Rohingya Tear for a departure captain, sorrow for Rakhine captain

Nga Chaung IDP camp, Pauktaw, Arakan, Major Aung Moe Win who had tortured and extorted money from IDP Rohingya, was replaced by a captain, Moe Myint Aung on 3rd May 2014. Moe Myint Aung is a very good captian who represents character of real Buddhist. When he came to Rohingya IDP camp, Rohingya were very happy. On 23rd May 2014, when he came in IDP camp and greeted with Rohingya for his departure, most of IDP cried for him.

Rohingya requested him not to go anywhere. Everyone was sad after hearing his transferring, some of them were crying for his departure. Moe Myint Aung said ''You all are my brothers, I will keep you in my heart, I will pray for, I don't know the reason, why I am transferred to another place. I pray to replace another good person, better than me.''

On 24th May 2014, a Rakhine captian, Kyaw Zay Aung, his contact: 09428187932, who is lower rank in position than captian Moe Myint Aung arrested some Rakhine who usually bring some necessary things to sell to the Rohingya IDPs. He looted all things of Rakhine and warned them not to sell or buy anything from IDPs. 

The Rakhine captain brought many Rakhine to catch the crabs and warned Rohingya IDPs not to catch any crab, not to come out from the IDP camp.  Kyaw Zay Aung said '' you all Kalar relied on Moe Myint Aung, that's the reason I reported against him to transfer, now whoever replace him, will listen to me, you all refugee Kalar also must obey me otherwise I will kill you all''After hearing his word and his action, bringing Rakhine to catch crabs in Rohingya's place, all IDPs were very sad.

American Buddhists Promote 969 Movement With Website

Irrawaddy News: July 9, 2013 A group of American Buddhists has launched an English-language website promoting the 969 movement, in response to negative media surrounding the ultra-nationalist Buddhist campaign in Burma. The website aims to dispel “myths” about the movement, with a letter from nationalist monk Wirathu to a Time magazine reporter whose article about 969 was banned in Burma.  “We’re not officially endorsed by Ven Wirathu at this time but will send a delegation to his monastery soon,” a spokesperson for the site said via email, adding that the group would create a nonprofit to coordinate “969 activities worldwide in response to religious oppression.”

Rohingya Activist Nominated for Human Rights Award

PHR congratulates Zaw Min Htut, a Burmese Rohingya activist, on his nomination for the 2011  US State Department Human Rights Defenders Award . Zaw Min Htut has been working for Rohingyas’ rights through the Burmese Rohingya Association of Japan since he fled Burma in 1998. Prior to that he was a student activist in Burma, and was detained for his participation in protests in 1996. In Japan, Zaw Min Htut has organized protests at the Burmese embassy and has written books on the history of Rohingya.
