Burmese Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin greeted by Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura at PM Yoshihiko Noda's official residence in Tokyo during a visit in October last year (Reuters) Japan is moving to resume loans to Burma after a quarter of a century, a report said Thursday, the latest move by the world community to bring the country in from the cold.

The United States has taken the first step toward resuming the search for the remains of U.S. soldiers lost in Myanmar during World War II. The search was suspended eight years ago, but improved U.S.-Myanmar relations have resulted in a senior military official holding talks on the issue in Myanmar this week.
