KPN News September 29, 2013 Maungdaw, Arakan State: Maungdaw district authority announced today to support and participate in the culture and dance competition which will hold in Thiremangala hall of Maungdaw on October 1-3, 2013, according toan officer from Maungdaw.  The competition will hold under Maungdaw district – Maungdaw and Buthidaung – and the Maungdaw officials are organizing to support and participate in the culture and dance show of Maungdaw group. Photo: Rohingya Village KPN News September 29, 2013   Maungdaw, Arakan State: Five brothers of a family have been arrested by police of Kayin Chaung police out-post on September 11, of them one was killed in police custody, said a closerelative of the victims.  “The arrested brothers had been identified as-----Shom Moluk,44; Noor Hashim,42; Mohamed Hashim,35; Mohamed Amin and Mohamed Salim,27.  All are sons of Abu Taher, hailed from Oo Shaikya (Borashidar Para) village of Maungdaw Township.”  Regarding the matter, on September 10, at about 1: 00 am, a house of one Iqbal,52; hailed from Ngan Chaung, area No.5 of Maungdaw north was robbed by a group of Rakhine armed group. They took away cash and gold ornaments from the house. So the house owner Iqbal went to nearby police station and logged a file about the robbery, the relative more added. UAE urges international community to find lasting solutions for Rohingya Muslim minority

By  Emirates News Agency  WAM NEW YORK, 28th September 2013 (WAM)-- The UAE has expressed concern over the acts of violence which target the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar, and demanded the international community encourage the government of Myanmar to carry out its duty to put an end to these acts which contradict the basic principles of human rights, as well as to help the Rohingya restore their rights as a Muslim Minority in Myanmar.  The UAE also re-affirmed that it will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of violence in Myanmar and to defend the legitimate rights of the Muslim minority in the country. Letter from America: Hearing on Burma

By Dr. Habib Siddiqui Asian Tribune  September 29, 2013 The U.S. Congressional panel recently had a hearing to examine the current political environment inside Burma (Myanmar), the growing human right abuses among its ethnic groups, and assess U.S. policy towards the country. Amongst other dignitaries Professor Wakar Uddin of the Arakan Rohingya Union was invited to answer a series of questions on the above subject. Hearings of this kind do show that the U.S. Congress is mindful of Myanmar and is interested to better the situation for all inside the country. I welcome such an initiative. In my opinion, the changes that have happened in the state of Myanmar in the last couple of years are mostly cosmetic and not genuine. I wish I could have sounded more optimistic.
