High Level flag meeting for border security held at Bangladesh-Burma border

By KPN  May 24, 2014 Naikonchari, Bangladesh: A Sector level flag meeting for border security between Burma and Bangladesh was held at Dusori nearby pillar No. 50 of Naikonchari upazila under the Bandarbon district, Bangladesh May 21, according to a BGB aide, who did not say his name. Highlevel-flag-meeting“The meeting especially discussed the border security issue which the Burma alleged to Bangladesh that unknown troops entered to Burma from Bangladesh and attacked the border guard police camps,” the aide said. In the meeting, Col. Tin Ko Ko, the director, Burma border guard police headquarters of Maungdaw appraised that — a group of unknown troops entered Burma through the pillar No. 37, on May 13, and on May 17, through pillar Nos. 51-52 and attacked border guard police camps and also they fired at around 450- bullet, according to a BGB officer from the meeting. 10 boat-people held while going to Malaysia

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Members of Bangladesh Coastguard detained 10 people –possibly traffickers or boat drivers of Burma – from the Bay of Bengal near Saint Martin’s Island while going to Malaysia with rickety boat on May 20, according to official of Coastguard of Saint Martin. They also arrested four traffickers (agents) namely—Zabet Hussain (28), Gura Meah  (35), Mohamed Anwar (29), and Mohamed Shahin (28) and seized two trawlers during the raid. They all belong to Teknaf upazila under Safran union, coastguard sources said. Lt. Col Harun-ur-Rashid, coastguard  commander of Saint Martin’s Island, said a patrol team of coastguard intercepted two trawlers with passengers aboard on the Bay, about 8km off the island, at around 4:00am. “As the people on board the trawlers were going to Malaysia without valid documents,” Commander Harun added. The arrestees are in interrogation cell for investigation said Dildarul Alam, the  Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Teknaf police .
