Burma Campaign UK asks China to work for human rights

To mark International Human Rights Day, Burma Campaign UK and Christian Solidarity Worldwide organized a demonstration at the Chinese embassy in London on Monday, calling for the Chinese government to use its influence to establish human rights in both countries. Thai PM to Meet Suu Kyi

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will meet Aung San Suu Kyi on Tuesday in Rangoon, becoming the first Thai premier to meet the Burmese opposition leader. Yingluck is scheduled to travel to Burma’s capital Naypyidaw on Monday for a Greater Mekong Subregion summit before heading to Rangoon. It will be her second trip to Burma since she was sworn in. Yingluck’s first visit to Burma was in early October when she met with President Thein Sein in Naypyidaw, but didn’t meet Suu Kyi at that time. Of them about 1.5 millions are in diasporas particularly in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Thailand etc. They are still willing to return to their ancestral homeland of Arakan in Burma. NLD nominates Tin Oo and Suu Kyi

MIZZIMA NEWS Rangoon (Mizzima) – Tin Oo and Aung San Suu Kyi will be nominated first leader and second leader, respectively, of the re-formed National League for Democracy (NLD) when it registers in Naypyitaw. The race is on: Burmese Election Commission

MIZZIMA NEWS New Delhi (Mizzima) – Candidates can start campaigning freely now for the by-election, Union Election Commission (UEC) chairman Tin Aye said on Friday. There are some constituencies in which there may be no election due to fighting in ethnic areas. EC chairman Tin Aye said this election would be free and fair. The commission will spend 700 million kyat (US$ 897,436) in comparison to nearly 1,100 million kyat (US$ 1.41 million) for the 2010 election, according to the EU announcement. International airport dedicated in Naypyitaw

MIZZIMA NEWS (Mizzima) – The Naypyitaw International Airport was inaugurated on Monday, the Xinhua news agency reported.
