Turkish aid workers distribute meat to Rohingya Muslims at camps in Bangladesh

COX'S BAZAR Turkish humanitarian aid entered a refugee camp despite tight surveillance by Bangladeshi police.  A group of Turkish humanitarian aid workers was able to enter a refugee camp in Bangladesh that shelters Rohingya Muslims and distributed meat on the occasion of Muslim holiday of the Eid al Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.

The United Nations said 22,587 people had now been displaced after unrest between Muslim Rohingyas and Buddhist Rakhines claimed at least 84 lives i n Rakhine State and tested the reformist mettle of the quasi-civilian government that replaced Myanmar's oppressive ruling junta last year.

Another Muslim Village, Kinipran, Burns Under Buddhist Flame

(DHAKA, Bangladesh) - We have learned from reliable sources over the telephone that today the Rakhines from Pauk Taw township, torched a big Muslim Rohingya village of about 1200 homes with the collaboration of Nasaka (Burma's border security force) forces at 12.00 noon today. The name of the village is "Kinipran", in Pauk Taw. The village is still burning and any report of casualties remains unknown at the time of this report. People on the scene are trying to collect casualties report.

Surin calls on Asean to act on Rohingya

Escalating violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state deserves the urgent attention of Asean and the international community, Asean secretary-general Surin Pitsuwan told the Bangkok Post Sunday yesterday. Mr Surin said he is renewing his call for Asean to act, otherwise there is a serious risk that the country's Rohingya population will become radicalised.
