Five Rohingya houses burned down in Maungdaw

They set fire to the houses of Rohingya Inn Din village by throwing kerosene gallons with fire. Later, Rohingya villagers found some of plastic gallons while the Natala villagers fled from the scene.”

80 Rohingyas heading for Malaysia detained in Burma

(AFP) DVB By AYE NAI Published: 4 January 2013 Over 80 Rohingyas, fleeing violence and persecution in Arakan state, were detained by Burmese authorities on Wednesday in a coastal town near the Thai border, after traffickers abandoned them en route to Malaysia. The Rohingyas, including 13 children and eight women, were taken for questioning by police when the boat was discovered at the dock in Tenasserim Division’s Kawthaung town in the southernmost tip of Burma.

Nasaka starts taking photographs in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State : Concerned authorities (Nasaka) started and forcibly took photographs of Rohigya families on January 4 in Maungdaw south, said a local elder from Aley Than Kyaw on condition of anonymity. “Today, in the morning, a group of Nasaka personnel went to the Gonjondia village of Maungdaw south and took photographs of 50 families today morning. They are not willing to give permission to take photographs but they are compelled to do so. ”
