Rohingya Representative Briefed at United Nations in Geneva Burmese Rohingya Organisation UK (BROUK) President Tun Khin gave a briefing on the situation of Rohingya at United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. He was invited to make the presentation at the Forum on Minority Issues Sixth session “Beyond freedom of religion or belief, guaranteeing the rights of religious minorities.” The session took place on 26th and 27th November, examining effective practices to ensure the protection and promotion of the identity of religious minorities so that they can freely maintain and develop their religious and cultural practices and traditions.  Professor Heiner Bielefeldt, the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, also gave a presentation on: “The rights of religious minorities”.  Around 500 people attended the forum, including delegates from all over the world. The dipping temperatures only increased his anxiety and with little earnings the 28-year-old labourer could not afford to buy woollens for his children. Thanks to timely help from the Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust (HZCT) the family received woollens and blankets. Shooting of Faux-Burning Scene of Bangladesh Monastery in Maungdaw

Anwar November 27, 2013 Rvisiontv.com Maungdaw, Arakan- Around 2:45PM on 26th November 2013, in Maungdaw, monks at the Bangladesh monastery created a faux burning scene at the monastery. Firebrigade arrived and extinguished the fire. And Police subsequently made video of the artifiacial burning. “There is a monastery called “Bangladesh Kyaung-Taike” meaning Bangladesh monastery at Myoma Kayintan (shidda fara), Maungdaw. It is so called because the monks and other people at the monastery are Bangladeshi Buddhists. And there is a house under construction in its premise. At 2:45PM today (on 26th November 2013), monks at the monastery painted its lintals, walls and other parts with ‘Smoke and Black Color’ to make it look like a burnt house or coal after burning. Burma Times November 26, 2013 – Police opened fire twice onto upwards air and fined 180,000kyats to a villager for shouting at night in Oo Shin Kya village under Maung daw A villager from Oo Shin Kya village tract informed on the condition of anonymity that the police group who are provisionally staying in Oo Shin Kya village since one month opened fire two bullets onto the upwards air while Bashir Ahmed was shouting for someone to help him as his hayrick caught fire yesterday (25 NOV 2013) night at around 9:00pm. By the way Bashir Ahmed son of Gawnu Meah from Oo Shin Kya village tract under Maung daw district was working in his paddy field while his hayrick caught fire unfortunately. He was scared and shouting for someone to help him to put out fire. But the police group were staying half kilometer far away from his field. So Bashir Ahmed screaming sound reached to polices’ ears and they rushed to the spot at once supposing that there came robbers in the village.
