Conflict Rohingya, Myanmar Red Cross Welcomes Support PMI

Jakarta Red Cross Myanmar (Myanmar Red Cross Society / MRCS) welcomed the support of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to resolve communal conflicts that occurred in the province of Rakhine, the western part of Myanmar. PMI in Myanmar for long-haul

Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) chairman Jusuf Kalla is in Myanmar this weekend to oversee a humanitarian effort that he said the PMI would be in for the long-haul. On Saturday, he signed a memorandum of cooperation with his Myanmarese counterpart, Tha Hla Swe, chairman of the country's Red Cross Society.

Plight of Rohingya Muslims

THE recent clashes between ethnic Arakan Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims in Arakan (also called Rakhine state) in Myanmar have left at least 78 people dead and tens of thousands displaced. An investigation by HRW found that the military government has since launched a crackdown on Rohingya, conducting violent sweeps, opening fire on villagers and arresting large numbers of Muslim men and boys.

No Rohingyas IDPs camps in northern Arakan

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The concerned authority of Maungdaw are not allowing any camps for Internal Displace peoples (IDPs) of Rohingyas who lost their homes and property in recent riot which occurred in June, according to an elder from Maungdaw.
