Anti-Muslim Attacks Hit Two More Pegu Division Towns

(Photo: Steve Tickner / The Irrawaddy) Irrawaddy News:  March 28, 2013 RANGOON — Anti-Muslim riots continued to spread in Burma for the seventh consecutive day on Wednesday as unidentified mobs attacked Muslim neighborhoods in two more towns in Pegu Division, ransacking at least two mosques and more than 100 homes. On Wednesday night, groups of attackers destroyed Muslim quarters in Monyo and Padigon, two townships located about 100 miles (170 km) north of Rangoon, according to police and Muslim organizations. In Monyo “riots started at 7:10 pm Wednesday. A mosque was totally destroyed and nearly 100 Muslim-owned houses were ransacked,” an officer at Monyo Police Station told The Irrawaddy, adding that no casualties were reported. It was his first public comment on the violence, which began last week. At least 40 people have been killed as a result of discord between Buddhists and Muslims since 20 March. Curfews have been imposed in a number of areas, as crowds of Buddhists attacked Muslim buildings. The police were reported on Wednesday to have opened fire in one town on a crowd of about 500 people. State sponsored, well trained militia group are plotting communal clashes to eradicate Muslims from the soil of Burma. This is out of expectation to the mission of newly formed 969 Buddhist Monks campaign led by Monk Wirathu would be over soon and Muslims to be live in peace and harmony like before. Their objective is to root out Muslim minority from Burma. The words “riot and violence” are used by all media being reported the Rakhine and Meiktila cases. From my view point, the word “riot and violence” referred when both sides fight each other. This is different here as only Buddhist racists attack
