A two century old mosque has burnt down by Buddhist extremists in Maungdaw

Burma Times – A villager from Maung daw reported that the Rakhine extremists who earlier gave fire at municipal market burn down a two century old mosque called Hakim Ali mosque or Gabi Mosque at around 9:30 pm Myanmar standard time. The Rakhine extremists are burning Rohingya religious and non-religious building one after one. The mosque is located in Myo Thu Gyi ( Hainda fara) village near  3 mile Maung daw. The Rakhine extremists are burning the Muslims’ buildings with master plan. The extremists touch the mosque while returning to their home because they were not satisfied of failing to burn down the whole market where 99 percent of shops belong to Rohingya. Amazingly there is no any report of arrest to those extremists who touch fire to the market and mosque.

At least two boats a week are leaving from southern Maungdaw to Malaysia or Thailand, confirmed an anonymous source from the area. The passengers are taking advantage of calmer waters during the winter season to make their escape. “Many Rohingya boat people including women and children are missing on the way to Malaysia due to rough sea and storm and some of the boats sank in the Bay of Bengal while on the way to their destination,” the source said. Anonymous sources fingered Faisal, a Kunia Para village administration officer, who stands accused of profiting off the mass exodus. The officer is allegedly collecting 50,000 Kyat (US$51) for each passenger. The money is split with the Kunia Para police commander and boat owners. By Bernama November 22, 2013 The National Sports Council (NSC) is monitoring the security situation in Myanmar before the Malaysian contingent leave for the 27th SEA Games next month, said its director-general, Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong. He said the NSC would also liase with the Malaysian Embassy in Myanmar following a report that the police arrested three people suspected of planning bomb attacks on mosques in Yangon yesterday. “We will also seek advice from Wisma Putra before taking further action,” he told reporters after attending the OCM Women and Sports Awards presentation here tonight. Zolkples, however, hoped that the incident would not dampen the athletes' preparation for the biennial Games (Dec 11-22) as they were enthusiastic to go there. In the meantime, he said the athletes would attend the final assembly at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), Bangi for five days from Dec 2 Dec before leaving for Myanmar.
