Rohingya tell their story a fascinating exhibition in Visua

By Mairead Wilmot The Rohingya art exhibition in the Visual arts centre  Their   journey ended in June 2009  when they arrived in carlow.   After years of living in Bangladesh refugee camp, members of the Rohingya community were resettled  in the town as part of  a United Nations refugee programme.

2014 Census in Burma must be universal and inclusive of Rohingya Recently the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA) has agreed to support Burma’s proposed 2014 population and housing census. But ‘Rights groups worry that if not conducted properly, the census could marginalize minorities such as the Rohingya or those living in one of Burma's many conflict areas.’

Burmese Muslim Refugees on the verge of starvation on Delhi streets

By Nadim Ahmad, The Milli Gazette Published Online: May 05, 2012 Print Issue: 1-15 May 2012 New Delhi: Over a thousand Muslim asylum-seekers from Arakan province of Myanmar  are camping since mid-April on footpaths near the office of the United Nation’s High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in New Delhi. They are on the verge of starvation due to the apathy of UNHCR towards their plight. They are living on the food offered to them by the local Muslims from across the road and are deprived of basic amenities and  medical facilities.
