More Rohingya prisoners sentenced to jail

Buthidaung, Arakan State:   A special court of Buthidaung, sentenced more Rohingyas to 10- year imprisonment who were served as prisoners in Buthidaung Jail, on October 12, according to a relative of the victims. “The sentenced prisoners were arrested during the so called sectarian violence between Rakhine and Rohingya communities from different areas of Maungdaw Township.”

Nasaka kills one, arrests ten in Maungdaw south

Maungdaw, Arakan State:   Burma border security force (Nasaka) shot to death an old Rohingya man and arrested  10 Rohingyas villagers from  Naya para village under Gawdhu Tharya village tract of Maungdaw south on October 20, at about 11;30pm, said a village elder on condition of anonymity.

Dr. Habib Siddiqui Last week the Myanmar Post on its front page reported about a meeting of Karen Religious Protection Organization that was held on October 14 in Mae Baung Monastery, Pha-an. The meeting was attended by more than 100 Buddhists including the Chief Administrators from all the nine quarters except the two from the Pha-an Township.

Harassment going on Rohingya in Maungdaw south

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Security forces and Natala villagers are harassing – looting, torture, arrest, extortion and rape -  Rohingya  villagers in Maungdaw south  which increased  day by day, according to a village admin officer from Maungdaw south. “We are not able to go to market to buy household items and kitchen wares for our survival, if we met security forces or Natala villagers, looted all our belonging and tortured till become serious.”

Presenters unravel Rohingya genocide

Dr. Tim Chambless, associate professor in the Department of Political  Science , addresses attendees at the “Voices for Rohingya: Stop the Genocide!” lecture in the Union on Thursday night. The Muslim Student Association and Miles for Water collaborated at a presentation in the Union on Thursday night to raise awareness about a genocide occurring in Burma. “Not many people know the specifics of the genocide, much less that it’s happening or why it’s happening,” said Faeiza Javed, president of the Muslim Student Association and a student in social work.

Maungdaw high level officers meet Rohingyas

Maungdaw, Arakan State:   Maungdaw high level officers held a meeting inviting villagers on October 19, according to a village businessman on condition of anonymity. “ Rohingya villagers of Alethankyaw village tract of Maungdaw south were summoned to attend a meeting yesterday. But, some villagers participated in the meeting as they did not interest the meeting.  So, the concerned authority sent security forces to the village and herded all Rohingya villagers they found on the road and in the village to the meeting room.”

Hacked the arm off in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  A group of Natala villager – Rakhines – hacked the right arm off from a Rohingya  in Tha Yae Kone Tan ( Thar Khun Baw) village today, according to an elder from the village. “Yaysu, 22, son of Adul Aziz – the Rohingya – went for grass cutting for his cattle in the morning in the field near the Rohingya village, the western side of Maungdaw – Alay Than Kyaw highway road where 10 Rakhines from east side of highway road came  with lethal  weapons and attacked on him.”
