Iran to send relief aid to Myanmar Muslims: IRCS official

An official with the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) says a consignment of relief aid weighing 30 tons will be soon sent to Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. The director of IRCS Public Relations Department Pouya Hajian said the relief load includes 15 tons of foodstuff and 15 tons of other relief items.  Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims have been facing torture, neglect and repression in the Buddhist-majority land, since it achieved independence in 1948.

Prison labor in Buthidaung jail

Buthidaung, Arakan State:  Rohingya prisoners are being used as forced labor by concerned authorities in Buthidaung jail since second week of last month, said a released prisoner from the Jail preferring not to be named. “The Rohingya prisoners, who had been arrested in riot, are being used as prison labor in harvesting by the authorities of Buthidaung jail.” In the morning, the prisoners are brought to the paddy fields for harvesting after feeding little food by the authorities and whole day they have to work in the paddy fields. But, they have to return with the bundles of paddy in the evening, said a relative of a prisoner that he knew from a police aide of the jail.

Two Rohingyas arrested in Maungdaw south

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Two Rohingya youths were arrested by Nasaka personnel (Burma’s border security force) over allegation that they were trying to run away from the Nasaka when the they met them in the village at night on November 28, said a local from Aley Than Kyaw.  The arrested were identified as Abdul Hafez (20), son of Kala Putu and Abdullah (18), son of Asadullah, hailed from Udaung village of Maundaw south.

CLARIFICATION ON PLIGHT OF ROHINGYA MUSLIMS SOUGHT FROM SUU KYI

Muslim organisations demanded clarification from Aung San Suu Kyi on the issue of state sponsored violence in Burma against Rohingya Muslims. Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) with some other organisations on a joint platform “Joint Forum of the Concerned” protested in front of Lady Shri Ram College in the capital where Suu Kyi, the Nobel laureate and “champion of democracy” was delivering a lecture. Protesters displayed placards with pictures of brutal killing of Rohingyas along with the misleading and racist comments of Suu Kyi on the issue.
