A Whole Rohingya Quarter Confiscated in Southern Maung Daw

Anwar | RvsionTV.com September 9, 2013 Maung Daw, Arakan- Due to the terror caused by Burmese military, NaSaKa (the abolished Border Security Force) and Rakhine extremists during the early stage of violence in June 2012, Rohingya families in the quarter of Hos-Sara (Hin-Tha-Ra), southern Maung Daw, sought refuge in nearby Rohingya villages leaving their homes behind. As these families had started preparation to go back to their homes, Maung Daw district adminstration and Maung Daw township admininstration seized the whole Rohingya quarter and ordered that no one can go there. “There are total 103 houses in the quarter of Hos-Sara. 55 houses fall under Zamadat (Laambaguna) village tract and 48 under the village tract of Sainda (Thanda). Telling the organizations for the rule of law in Yangon, U Shwe Mann said stability and peace could not prevail in the nation in the absence of the rule of law and it may harm the country's sovereignty. Rohingya boys at a shelter in Phang Nga, the province north of PhuketPhoto by phuketwan.com/file By Alan Morison and Chutima Sidasathian PHUKET : A new rule that bars boys aged 12 years and over from Thailand's family shelters contravenes the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, a Human Rights Watch spokesman said today.  Rohingya refugees now being housed in Thailand's shelters will be among those immediately affected by what Phil Robertson describes as a ''knee-jerk policy.'' Staff of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security were told at a conference in Bangkok this week to immediately clear boys aged 12 and above from all of Thailand's 77 family shelters. Rohingya families, held in custody from January, are among those affected, with families who will be forced to separate.  One frustrated official said: ''We have been told that the boys 12 years and over must be taken out of the shelters immediately, b
