Moghs and Police again set on fire Rohingya houses in Kyacktaw

Kyacktaw, Arakan State: A group Moghs and police personnel set on fire more than 100 Rohingya houses in Kyacktaw Township, today, according to an elder from Kyacktaw. “The Moghs and police personnel came to our village –Gufedaung – at about 1:30 and the Moghs set on fire the houses. We called the authority and informed to the authority, but the authority not arrive on times at the spot.”

Police still harass Rohingya in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State:   Police personnel from Maungdaw police station are still harassing – looting, arbitrary arresting- Rohingya community, according an elder from Maungdaw. “The Police personnel – Sub Inspector Aye Tun Sein, Sub Inspector Hla thein and Then Htun – are stationed at clock tower and harassing all Rohingya who are passing the clock tower junction.”

(PHOဈTO: Soe Zeya Tun / Reuters) RANGOON — A United Nations human rights expert called Saturday for an urgent independent investigation into recent bloody sectarian violence in western Arakan State of Burma which he said was one of many human rights challenges facing the country. Tomas Ojea Quintana ended a weeklong visit to Burma saying that the country’s much-touted democratic reforms will not take hold unless the government places human rights at the center of its agenda for change.
