Nasaka arrests two young boys in Maungdaw north

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) arrested two young boys under 12 years from Maungdaw north today 10:00 am and are detained in the Nasaka camp, said a close relative of the boys. “The arrested boys are identified as Ramjan Hakim (11), son of Dolla Meah and Kala Meah (10), son of Khobir Ahmed. Both of them belong to Powet Chaung village of Maungdaw Township.”

Myanmar can keep Rohingya from starving. But will it?

Last week,  CNN’s Dan Rivers reported  that he “wasn't prepared to see children starving to death” when he went to camps for internally-displaced Rohingya in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. Though no one can (or should) ever get used to such horrors, the prevalence of starvation in this region should not come as a surprise.

Nasakas Collecting Tax for Cows Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan state:  On 5th Dec 2012, Nasakas (boarder security force) from camp no: 12 of Nasaka area (5) went to Myaw Taung village tract where they took lists of the cows owned by Rohingyas checking every houses one by one and collected 500Ks per each cows including calves in Myaw Taung as a tax.

Burmese vice president visits Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan state: The Burmese vice president – Vice Admiral Nyan Tun, the Navy commander-in-chief, visited today at about 4:00pm, according to an official from Maungdaw. “The vice president with other officials with three helicopters arrived Maungdaw south, at first they landed at a new settler village –Mawrawaddy- where the vice president had delivered to the new settler villagers – Rakhine – and delivered foods and cash to the villagers.”

Burmese Rohingya Group Meets with Executive Director of Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center

Rakhine Buddhist mobocracy and mob attacks on behalf of the government are eliminating the Arakan Muslim population for which the current Burmese. BRAFA meeting held this week in Wisconsin (MILWAUKEE, WI) - The Burmese Rohingya American Friendship Association (BRAFA) held a meeting this week with staff from the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center. BRAFA Executive Committee members, led by Chairman Shaukhat Kyaw Soe Aung, met with Mr. Will Perry, the Executive Director of Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center on 3 November 2012 at the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center office.

Muslims are expelled from western Myanmar

by Thomas Fuller Sittwe, Myanmar - The Buddhist monastery at the end of this coastal town is the picture of tranquility, with novice monks dressed in saffron robes who find shade under a tree and its impressive master Nyarna, greeting the visitor in a prayer room sunlit. But these placid surroundings Nyarna message is discordant and far from the Buddhist precept of avoiding harm to living creatures. Without provoc ation, Nyarna launches into a tirade against Muslims, calling them invaders, and uninvited guests "vipers in our lap." "Based on our Buddhist teachings, we should not kill," said Nyarna. "But when we feel threatened, we can not be holy."

Bangladesh deports 19 Rohingyas to Burma

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent back 18 Rohingyas to Burma on Tuesday, according to Bangladeshi media. The Rohingyas had been detained at different locations in Cox's Bazar, according to a named commanding officer of BGB 17 Battalion. Meanwhile, Dhaka-based The Daily Star reported on Wednesday that 17 other Rohingyas, including women and children, had been detained after being apprehended on a passenger bus on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway that afternoon.
