Maungdaw, Arakan state: The Burmese vice president – Vice Admiral Nyan Tun, the Navy commander-in-chief, visited today at about 4:00pm, according to an official from Maungdaw.
“The vice president with other officials with three helicopters arrived Maungdaw south, at first they landed at a new settler village –Mawrawaddy- where the vice president had delivered to the new settler villagers – Rakhine – and delivered foods and cash to the villagers.”
“The vice president and its group headed to Kan Thar Yar – a Rakhine new settler – village where the vice president also delivered foods and cash to the settlers.”
The Kan Thar Yar village is near the Nyaung Chaung – Rohingya- village where the Rohingya villagers tried to meet the vice president to express their situation and to ask for aids – foods – but the Rohingya villagers didn’t allow to meet by Maungdaw authority ( security force), said a villager from Nyaung Chaung village.
“Whenever high level Burmese officer had come, they never meet Rohingya community – have been living in Burma from as far back as the 8th Century – and didn’t deliver any aids to Rohingya since riot start in June.”
“The Maungdaw high level authority only show the Rakhine Internal Displace Peoples (IDPs) who are fake IDPs, bringing from the Rakhine villages where they are living in the rural areas. The authority never said there is Rohingya IDPs in Maungdaw.”
Recently, UNHCR built IDPs camp on Koe Tan Kauk and supplying aids to them, but still not tents and warm clothes for winter season. The Rohingyas from Ward number 3, Bomu village, Ward number 5 are still suffering – no houses, no foods and clothes- since June riots. No NGOs or UNHCR are able to help as the authority ban them to help Rohingya, said a school teacher from Maungdaw.
