BRAFA meeting held this week in Wisconsin

(MILWAUKEE, WI) - The Burmese Rohingya American Friendship Association (BRAFA) held a meeting this week with staff from the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center.

BRAFA Executive Committee members, led by Chairman Shaukhat Kyaw Soe Aung, met with Mr. Will Perry, the Executive Director of Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center on 3 November 2012 at the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center office.

At the meeting, BRAFA Chairman Shaukhat Kyaw Soe Aung expressed thanks and gratitude to the Executive Director of Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center, Will Perry, and his team members for providing the opportunity to meet. BRAFA Chairman Shaukhat Kyaw Soe Aung presented the Rohingyas' historical background, highlighting gross human rights violations in Burma and an update on the situation with authentic photo evidences of the suffering of Rohingya Muslims who were being slaughtered like animals by the Buddhist extremist Rakhine people with support of the President, Thein Sein, who leads Burmese security forces in Arakan, Burma.

BRAFA's Chairman further clarified at the meeting that the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Arakanese Rohingya Muslims is a man-made tragedy and a pre-planned pogrom of the Burmese security forces of President Thein Sein’s Government.

He says it is the Burmese Government’s policy to wipe out the entire Muslim population from Arakan State to make it a pure Muslim-free Buddhist state. More than 20 major operations with various names against the Rohingya Muslims have been carried out by the successive Burmese governments who have joined with the extremist Buddhist Rakhine political elite and academicians over the last sixty years.

This time they are successful and achieved 90% of target using Rakhine Buddhist Mobocracy and Mob attacks on behalf of the government to eliminate the Arakan Muslim population for which the current Burmese. The government is fully responsible for the death and destruction of Muslims and Muslim villages, houses, places of worship and Islamic institutions including Muslim historical Mosques and monuments.

Mr. Will Perry, the Executive Director of the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center encouraged the BRAFA members to continuously engage and do more peaceful activities and organize various events to get grassroots American public support and cooperation to put pressure on Burmese Government through American policy makers, Congress and Government Administration.

He said he was very much concerned of the violation of human rights against the innocent civilian Muslims and inflicting the inhuman atrocities to the Rohingya people of Burma. He prayed for the salvation of the departed souls of Muslims in the massacre and expressed willingness to help within his capacity to work for the survival and well-being of suffering Rohingya people in co-operation with the BRAFA.
