26th January 2014
Maungdaw, Arakan State
We learnt how Myanmar Military and Security Force (Hlun Hteins) resurrected the violence against Rohingya people by making a full-fledged assault on a Rohingya village called Duchiradan (Kilaidaung) in southern Maungdaw, Arakan State, on 14th January 2014. They mutiliated and killed around 50 innocent people. They raped women/girls. Rohingyas’ homes were destroyed and their properties were looted by Rakhine extremists. They arbitrarily arrested many people. More than 300 people are still missing. People believe they were also massacred by the military and the secuity force in cooperation with Rakhine terrorists.
On 18th January 2014, some people witnessed three trucks loaded with the corpses of Rohingya being driven towards Rathedaung Township via the road by the forest to the east of Maungdaw. Unfortunately, Myanmar Regime was extremely successful in covering up all those crimes against humanity by blocking the village immediately after the military assault and hence, preventing the access of any outsiders to the village except for the government officials and their collaborators. Therefore, not many photographic or videographic evidences of the crimes could make their ways to media or social media. The government pulled off different excuses as to why such incident happened. As usual, being sociopaths, Myanmar Regime officially lied that there were no such crimes took place.
Around 10AM on 24th January 2014, Maungdaw District Administration and Maungdaw Township Administration, Some of Members of Maungdaw USDP (Union Solidarity and Development Party), U Kyaw Aye from Rakhine National Development Party (RNDP) and few Rohingya members of Rakhine State Assembly representing Maungdaw paid a visit to the village of East-Gawdusara (Gawduthara), a village neighboring to violence-hit Duchiradan, where many Rohingyas from the latter village are taking refuge. They ordered the people to return to Duchiradan. However, the people replied “we will only return when you return our lost family members and there is a guarantee for our lives.” Thereupon, the Military and Security Force started to foribly return the people.
Around 3PM of the day, a woman with three young children (one of Age 4 and other two are 2 years and a few months old respectively), who lost her husband during the military assault, was reluctant to return to the village not wanting to remember the trauma and fearing of becoming the victims of violence again. Thus, she, instead, with two children in her arms and the eldest one following her, was trying to move to the western part of the Gawdusara village. Military chased them. The 4-year-old child could not run fast enough to escape from the military. Military caught her and one of them brutally banged her face with the back of his gun. As a result, she lost her two front-teeth and blood spilled all over from her mouth. Shown below is the pictures of hers showing the brutality of the military. Her name is Kismat Ara (Daughter of) Abul Bashar (Father) and Sajidah (Mother). Feel it by yourself.
A picture of another 14-year-old Rohingya boy called Kabir Ahmed hit by a bullet shot at him by the military during their open and brush-fire at the innocent Duchiradan villagers. He was one of the fortunate ones to escape alive.
Given below is a picture of an 85-year-old man called Abdu Jalil who languished and ran for his life for six hours to get to a temporary safe place.
We can go on explaining how brutal the Myanmar authority against Rohingyas has been. But no words will be enough to express their brutalities against Rohingyas. The brutalities against Rohingyas are just beyond words and imigination.
