Myanmar-Bangladesh border fence

At least 67 Rohingya Muslims who sneaked into Bangladesh from neighbouring Myanmar were arrested Sunday by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and were pushed back after providing humanitarian supports, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reported.
The Rohingya Muslims, the ethnic minority of Myanmar, were arrested at times from the border points of Teknaf and Naikhyangchari of Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban districts.
The 42 BGB Battalion’s Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Zahid Hossain told New Age Online that they had arrested a total of 43 Rohingyas including women and children while trespassing border points at Jaliapara and Dumdomia under Teknaf upazila at about 12:30am. BGB forces boarded them on a boat and sent them back at about 3:30am after giving them some foods and medicines.
In another incident, 24 others were arrested by BGB 17 Battalion from Gundum and Tumbro border points under Naikhyangchari upazila at about 8:00am and were pushed back through the same points after a humanitarian treat, Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hasan, commander of BGB 17 Battalion confirmed New Age Online.
The BGB forces in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban districts are on alert against any possible influx of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar.
The Rakhine state of Myanmar has been wracked by sectarian violence. Rohingya Muslims have been the target of Buddhist-led attacks and lynchings have been described by human rights organizations as ethnic cleansing.
The Rohingyas have been leaving Myanmar regularly and it has increased rapidly since June last year as clashes intensified.
