Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 52 boat-people including 21 Rohingyas and a trawler nearby Saint Martin Island of the Bay of Bengal, said a local fisherman from Shapuri Dip.
After
being rescued, the BGB and BCG handed over the arrestees or rescued
boat-people to Teknaf police station, according to Bangladesh Coast
Guard.

also arrested 26 people from Haber Para of Teknaf, who were about to
leave for Malaysia by boat, according to official.

Commander of 42 Battalion in Teknaf— Lt Col Jahid Hasan confirmed
this event. He said that the arrested 26 people paid Tk 20,000 to
40,000 each to the agents for sending them off to Malaysia.
The
boat-people were left for Malaysia by boat from the Haber Para of
Teknaf Town of the border as the young people are not able to go
through recruitment agency of Malaysia where they need to pay 200,000
taka per head. The young Bangladeshi who are living near the border
have no jobs now as no border trade legal or illegal after riot since
June. These young people are depending on the border trade business,
said an elder from Teknaf.
