Maungdaw, Arakan State: British ambassadors Mr. Andrew Heyn accompanied by two others are still going to their fact finding program in Maungdaw Township to see real struggle and situation in detail of Rohingya in northern Arakan. They arrived at Maungdaw on October 3, said a local leader on condition of anonymity.
The envoy and its group went to Ward No. 2 and downtown to observe the situation of Rohingya and Rakhine and also went to Maungdaw market where the envoy met with shopkeepers and consumers and asked Rohingya traders and local marketing Rohingyas with many questions Today morning .”
The envoy inquired about recent riots – occurred in June in Maungdaw Township between Rakhine community and Rohingya community- from Rohingya students group, when he met with them today.
The envoy and its group had lunch at Maung Tin Nu son of Maung Nu home at about 12:00 noon. The envoy was invited for lunch by Maung Tin Nu.The police officers U Aung Kyaw Kent and U Hla Myint were taking security for the envoy while they had lunch. The two police officers are the most perpetrators against the Rohingya community in Maungdaw town, according to a trader from the town.
The envoy and its group round the town till evening where they were looking the life style of Maungdaw residents. They returned to the Nasaka Headquarters to stay at night.
It is learnt that, tomorrow, the delegation will go to the Ward No. 3 and 5 of Maungdaw Town to see the situation.
