Maunegdaw, Arakan State: A Rohingya Muslim was arrested and detained by police at Maungdaw over the allegation that he told the real happening to the Major Geneal Maung Oo about the recent violence between two communities while he visited at Maungdaw, said a friend of the victim from Maungdaw.
“The arrestee has been identified as Nur Hakim (25), son of Abdu Razak, hailed from Ward No.5 of Maungdaw Town. He was arrested yesterday at 1:00 pm, led by police officer U Aung Kyaw Kent.”

According to a source , Hakim was arrested by the police as he proved with documents to the high level officers that his house was burned down and also some Rohingya Muslim were killed by the police, Hluntin (riot police) along with Mogh (Rakhine) during the communal violence in June.
He also explained about the situation of Maundaw to ex-Western Command Commander Major General Maung Oo including some upper house Parliament members of Rohingya and other officers when they visited to the north Arakan State, recently. So, he was arrested by the police after getting information.
After their ( ex-Western Command Commander) departure, the security forces, Nasaka, police, Hluntin and army have increased arresting the Rohingya people with fabricated cases against the Rohingya people. They tortured the arrestees and some were released after taking money, said a village elder on condition of anonymity.
However, Hakim has been detained and tortured by the police at the police station of Maundaw since yesterday, he added.
