Maungdaw, Arakan State: An officer of Burma’s border security force (Nasaka), area No.7 called village admins of Maungdaw south and held a meeting and asked them to give money for building a security camp, on September 24,, said a village elder on condition of anonymity.
“The officer called all village admins of Maungdaw south from each village yesterday at about 9:00 am under the Nasala area No. 7 and told in the meeting that he wanted to build a security camp at Buhamu Para.”
The officer told the village leaders in the meeting regarding the present situation of the Burma and all have duty to protect the country from enemies, said an aide of Nasaka.

The officer is taking step to build a security camp at Buhamu Para (village tract) nearby offshore for security reason. So, the officer needs money to build security camp.
The officer also ordered to the village admins to pay money as per their village. that the village admin (formerly called village chairman) of Aley Than Kyaw has to pay Kyat 600,000, the village admin of Khonza Bill has to pay Kyat 300,000, the village admin of Buhamu Para has to pay Kyat 60,000 according to the size of village etc.
A village elder of Aley Than Kyaw said, “If the officer demands us to pay the huge money where we will get money. We have no jobs and works here as we are not allowed to move from one village to another village and also curfew has been imposed. “
A business man from the village said, “Many Rohingya Muslims have been suffering from starvation because of jobless and homeless. The government does not provide us any assistance, but it only provides assistances to the Rakhine community. “
So, we (the villagers) would like to urge to the government to stop discriminations and persecutions against the Rohingaya Muslim in Arakan.”
