Turkey’s coming of age

Turkey is emerging as a leading nation in the Muslim world. Recently Prime Minister Erdogan’s wife, along with a delegation of top Turkish officials, visited Burma to deliver aid to the persecuted Rohingya community.

This commendable move, coming soon after the authorities shot down a Syrian plane in its territory and the flotilla incident in which they exercised military muscle, shows that Turkey has truly come of age.

The country, under Erdogan’s strong leadership, is not only enjoying economic boom but is also showing its diplomatic prowess. This is truly laudable for a place, which is conventionally deemed to suffer from an identity crisis due to its “bi-continental” status.

Turkey has emerged as a leader in the Muslim world and has shown that it will play a strong part in solving its problems.
