Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh: Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held 23 Rohingyas from a jeep in Naikhongchhari upazila and others 36 Rohingyas from the areas of Teknaf police station on August 28, said a local from border.
BGB sources said a joint team of BGB and police intercepted the jeep and held the Rohingyas at noon while they were going to Naikhongchhari from Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

Later, they were taken to Naikhongchhari police station for further investigation.
Besides, on August 27, at midnight, BGB arrested 21 Rohingyas from Shapuri Dip and others 15 Rohingyas from Zadi Mura under Teknaf police while they were trying to enter the Bangladesh, according to sources.
An arrestee said, “We came to Bangladesh from Burma because of persecution and sectarian violence in Arakan State, Burma. Burmese security forces have been imposing curfew on us from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, now from August 7:00pm – 5:00am, not allowing us to perform congregational prayer in Mosques and locked all mosques since June. They also burned down our Rohingya villages into ashes.”
“ The curfew is not for Mogh(Rakhine), they are going all the time while we are inside the home.”
He also said that the Rohingya Muslims were not allowed to perform prayer in Eid-day (Muslim festival) by Burmese security forces and Moghs and also many Rohingya Muslims were arrested and killed by them.
According to different sources, Rohingyas, the minority Muslims of Arakan in Burma, have continued their desperate efforts to intrude into Bangladesh since the conflicts between Muslim Rohingyas and Rakhines broke out in coastal Arakan state of Burma on June 8.
In this week, over 100 Rohingya Muslims were arrested from the different border points of Bangladesh by BGB and police.
