Urging the Myanmar Government to stop the killing immediately, he urged the international peace makers to act against the massacre which is against the humanity.
Basir also urged Aung San Suu Kyi to play a positive role in bringing an end to the violence. “We are confident as a Nobel Peace Laureate you would play a constructive role and will soon help in bringing an end the violation of human rights and failure of the law and order machinery,” Indian academician noted.
He further noted that the large scale killings of the Rohingya Muslim community not only required worldwide condemnation but also required humanitarian aid to the victims of the senseless violence.
According to reports thousands of Muslims have been killed, tortured and displaced by the Buddhists in Burma’s Rakhine province.
Burma has a population 75 million with the Muslim population being just 0.7 million.
