A Rohingya refugee from Nayapara camp died on the way to Cox’s Bazar government hospital on May 27.
One camp resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed the deceased man, who has been identified as Moggul Hussain, was not getting adequate treatment at the camp.
“He visited the camp clinic frequently for treatment but the medical team leader neglected his medical condition.”
Moggul was suffering from ulcers and had a fever for the last one month, according to his family.
When his condition got worse Moggul was admitted to the camp’s health centre at 9 pm, on May 26.
He was referred to Cox’s Bazar government hospital around 3 am.
Moggul died at about 5 am, after reaching the hospital, according to his son Salim, who accompanied his father in the ambulance.
Moggul body was brought back to Nayapara camp to be buried in the refugee cemetery.
After Moggul’s death several camp residents complained about the poor medical services they receive at the camp’s clinic. Some suggested that the staff should be replaced.
