Bangladesh Coastguards arrest 12 boatpeople

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Coastguards arrested twelve Rohingya boatpeople from the Bangladesh territorial on April 5, Kasim, a local from Shapuri Dip said.

“They were arrested from the Bay of Bengal by the Bangladesh Coastguards at midnight on April 5, while they were trying to go to Malaysia by a risky boat.”
The Bangladesh Coastguards seized a big trawler with 100 litters of diesel, 30 litters of edible oil and different items of commodities, according to official from border. 

The arrestees were identified as Md. Rafique (18), Md. Harun (20), Ali Zuhar (22), Akter Hussain (50), Nurul Islam (20), Md. Ibrahim (28), Md. Faruk (18), Mir Ahmed (18), Nur Hashim (18), Md. Jubair (18), Ali Ahmed (43), and Salim Ullah (32), hailed from Maungdaw townships, Arakan state, Burma.

The arrestees were handed over to Teknaf police station for further investigation.

However, police has filed case against them and sent to Cox’s Bazar jail, said a source from Teknaf police station.

According to different sources, many Rohingya people including official and unofficial refugees went to Malaysia from Bangladesh by risky sea route with  small boats. 

Similarly, many Rohingyas from Burma went to Malaysia by the sea route with risky boats for better life because of religious persecution, movement restriction, forced labor, marriage restriction, arbitrary arrest, extortion and etc.

Sources also said that many Rohnigya people died in the sea during their journey to Malaysia by risky boats.

Iran Ready to Dispatch Medical Teams to Myanmar

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Basij Organization of Iran's Medical Society Mohammad Rayeeszadeh voiced the society's readiness to dispatch medics, nurses and relief and rescue forces to help Myanmar's Muslims who are under the daily attacks of the majority in the Southeast Asian country. "The Basij (volunteer) organization of the Medical Society is prepared to dispatch emergency teams of physicians, nurses and rescue workers to Myanmar," Rayeeszadeh told FNA on Saturday.

2,600 tonnes of aid delivered to Myanmar Muslims

Khalifa Foundation has distributed urgent aid totalling 5,200 tonnes Gulf News  March 04, 2013  Burma: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF) has distributed another 2,600 tonnes of food aid to Myanmar Muslims, completing its third and last phase of the urgent aid totalling 5,200 tonnes of relief items among 850,000 beneficiaries. As per directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the assistance was purchased from the local markets of Myanmar in cooperation and coordination with the Embassy of Kuwait to be shipped by sea to “Rakhine (Arakan)” for distribution among the affectees there.
