Fight between Nasaka and sentry men at Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan: A face-to-face fight between Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) and village sentry men was occurred on January 26, at night as Nasaka’s unlawful torture to the sentry men, said a local trader from the locality on condition of anonymity.



“A group of Nasaka personnel numbering in four, from Mangala (Tharet Oo) village camp went to the same village sentry post to check the sentry men at night on January 26. While the Nasaka personnel were approaching the local village sentry camp secretly, the sentry men halted and asked them who they were, which made the Nasaka personnel very angry.”


“After reaching at the sentry post, the Nasaka gathered all the sentry men (10 members) in a line and asked them why they halted them (Nasaka). Asking this question, the sentry men were severely beaten up by the Nasaka with a stick.”

At last, the sentry men became unbearable situation, and the sentry men attacked the Nasaka, so, there was a hand to hand fighting between them. Three Nasaka personnel were severely beaten up by the sentry men, and one of them however managed to flee. Later, the wounded Nasaka personnel were sent to their camp by local village administration officer, said a village elder who denied to be named.

Regarding the incident, Nasaka officer did not take any action against the local village sentry men. However, the sentry men of the village, so far, do not sleep at home for fear of arrest by the Nasaka.

A school teacher said, “It is a normal duty for sentry men, to halt anybody who is approaching to the sentry post at night.”

Iran Ready to Dispatch Medical Teams to Myanmar

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Basij Organization of Iran's Medical Society Mohammad Rayeeszadeh voiced the society's readiness to dispatch medics, nurses and relief and rescue forces to help Myanmar's Muslims who are under the daily attacks of the majority in the Southeast Asian country. "The Basij (volunteer) organization of the Medical Society is prepared to dispatch emergency teams of physicians, nurses and rescue workers to Myanmar," Rayeeszadeh told FNA on Saturday.

2,600 tonnes of aid delivered to Myanmar Muslims

Khalifa Foundation has distributed urgent aid totalling 5,200 tonnes Gulf News  March 04, 2013  Burma: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF) has distributed another 2,600 tonnes of food aid to Myanmar Muslims, completing its third and last phase of the urgent aid totalling 5,200 tonnes of relief items among 850,000 beneficiaries. As per directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the assistance was purchased from the local markets of Myanmar in cooperation and coordination with the Embassy of Kuwait to be shipped by sea to “Rakhine (Arakan)” for distribution among the affectees there.
