The Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan (BRAJ) organized ever biggest rally in Tokyo in response to the USDP Government’s racist statement in parliament of Burma against Rohingyas on the name of “The Rohingya Global Day of Action”

“We are staging in the name of “The Rohingya Global Day of Action” Demonstration in Japan to show their solidarity in condemning the irresponsible statements and lies in the Parliament by the Thein Sein Regime is nothing but an open threat to continue denying the Rohingya people of their rights and freedom including their right to nationality and residence within territory of the state,” according to Zaw Min Htut, President of BRAJ.

“The representatives from various organizations working for human rights in Japan made their speeches in support of Rohingya cause.”

“The responses of the USDP ministers to the queries of Rohingya MPs in the parliament were full of hatred and were deliberate attempts to perpetrate human rights violations continuously against the innocent and peace-loving Rohingya people.”

There were about 90 people participated at the rally including some Japanese and Burmese communities took part in the protest to show their solidarity in condemning the concocted statements of the Thein Sein regime and its continued brutal and serious human rights violations against the ethnic Rohingya in Arakan.

The Rohingyas in the country and overseas alike strongly condemn the military back semi-democratic government of Burma for its baseless and concocted allegations against the Rohingya people in the highest political forum. The ethnic Rohingyas are Burmese citizens and to accuse them as aliens in their own homeland is tantamount to a crime against humanity.

On 29th August and 1st September 2011, some Rohingya MPs, (all belong to USDP) asked in  Burmese parliament to redress the issues and problems being faced by the  Muslim Rohingyas -- such as restrictions on their freedom of movement, marriage, education and other socio-economic activities.  Instead of remedying such serious situation of grave human rights violations, the concerned ministers of Thein Sein regime foolishly threatened that such restrictions were necessary by accusing the Rohingya population as Bangladeshis/illegal immigrants/non-nationals. One of such irresponsible and bad-mannered ministers was former police chief U Khin Yi, the Minister of Immigration and Population. This worldwide protest was organized as a global reaction from the Rohingya communities worldwide.
