Teknaf, Bangladesh: Pneumonia, fever, cough, stomach’s pain and diarrhea have recently spread among the refugee children in Bangladesh-Burma border, said a local doctor from Teknaf.

“Many unregistered Rohingya refugee children of Leda (Tal) and Kutuplong makeshift camp have been suffering from various diseases since the end of December 2012.”
According to refugees, the effected children are being given basic treatment through INGOs- Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF), Muslim Aids and etc.

“Mostly, refugee children (1 to 7 years) are suffering with these diseases.”
Kutupalong makeshift camp is situated in open fields on hilly terrain, buffeted by cool winds, where the huts of the refugees are made with plastic, bushes and branches, according to sources.

A refugee health worker from the camp said the children are now suffering from pneumonia.
The health worker also said, “In the camps is very cold because it is situated between Mauntain and Naff River, so the refugees are suffering from cold more.”

Similarly, some registered refugee children of Nayapara and Kutupalong camps are also suffering from pneumonia, fever and cough recently, said a Community Health Worker from the camp. Source KPN
